1. Banj Beach

- What to expect: A brisk 10-minute walk from the Old Town, meaning zero transit costs. It offers a panoramic look at Šibenik’s historic skyline and the St. James Cathedral right from the water. There is plenty of free space on the pebbles and free public showers.

- What to expect: While located inside a major resort grounds, the coastline is completely public and free to access. Skip the expensive resort parking and pricey sunbed rentals by taking the local bus in, and find a cozy spot under the natural shade of the pine trees for free.

- The Vibe: Relaxed, family-friendly, and all about crystal-clear water.
- What to expect: Located just south of Šibenik, Zaborić is a peaceful seaside village known for its long stretches of clean pebble beaches and calm, shallow water perfect for swimming. Unlike the busier resort areas, you’ll find plenty of free space along the coast, natural shade from pine trees, and a much slower pace. It’s easy to reach by local bus or car, and you can spend the entire day here without spending much beyond a coffee or ice cream.

- The Vibe: Shallow turquoise waters and true island time.
- What to expect: Murter is connected to the mainland by a free drawbridge, so you get an island escape without an expensive ferry ticket. Slanica is one of the rare, true sandy beaches in the region. Park a short walk away to avoid premium lot fees, and pack a lunch to avoid island restaurant prices.

A Few Local Tips for the Road
- Embrace the Pekara Picnic: Before you head out, hit a local pekara (bakery). Grabbing a fresh burek (savory meat or cheese pastry) or a sandwich will cost you a fraction of what you’ll pay at a beachfront cafe.
- Buy Water Shoes: The beaches here are fine pebble and stone, which keeps the water crystal clear, but it can be tough on tourists’ feet (the locals have been walking on them their entire lives). Spend a few euros on a pair of water shoes at a local stall.
- Catch the Morning Shade: The sun gets hot fast. Arrive early to claim a spot under the natural pine trees so you don’t have to shell out cash for a rental umbrella.
